What is 128-bit Encryption and why do I need it?

128-bit encryption is the highest level of protection a web browser can offer for your Internet communications, including personal information, credit card use and financial transactions. Encryption is used for all online transaction sessions or whenever personal information is requested. Encryption encodes the information that flows between your computer and our computer systems making it difficult for unauthorized individuals to intercept, read or alter your online communications and transactions.

How do I check to ensure that my browser has 128-bit Encryption

If your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer:
  1. Open up your browser window.
  2. Click on the "Help" button at the top of the browser.
  3. Click on "About Internet Explorer".
  4. Look for a heading called "Cipher Strength" in the window that opens up. It must say 128-bit beside the heading.

If you do not have 128-bit encryption, you will need to upgrade your browser. Information related to upgrading Internet Explorer is available in this article from Microsoft Help and Support.
If your browser is Netscape Navigator:
  1. Open up your browser window.
  2. Click on the "Help" option button at the top of the browser.
  3. Click on the heading "About Navigator" or "About Communicator".
  4. Once you have clicked on the "About Navigator" or "About Communicator" heading you will be taken to a page that tells you about your browser version. In this page you must have a section of text that states:
    This version supports U.S.
    security with RSA Public Key
    Cryptography, MD2, MD5,
    RC2-CBC, RC4, DES-CBC,
    DES-EDE3-CBC.

If you do not have this section of text, you will need to upgrade your Netscape browser. You can do so by going to the Netscape homepage.

I receive an error message after clicking Add to Cart

Problem: After clicking on Add to Cart, I receive this message:

Domain Conflict The Advansis software can only be accessed via documents housed on lsuc.on.ca

You have attempted to access it from No Server Identified.

In the event of discrepancy or error, please contact the Advansis administrator for this site.

Solution: Check to see if you have any firewall software installed, such as Norton Internet Security. If so, it sometimes hinders the transaction process and needs to be disabled for the transaction to complete. First close down Internet browser windows. Then disable the firewall. Once firewall is disabled, open up a new browser and attempt the transaction again.

I can't remember my password. How can I retrieve it?

If you have forgotten your password, there is a "forgot your password" utility available. Once you enter your Licensee Number or email address, there is a link to this under where you would normally enter your password. Click on it.

Please supply your Licensee Number (or email address if you are not a licensee of the Law Society) and your password will be sent to the email address associated with your account.

Sometimes the email address on account is old or incorrect. In this event you will not get your password. If this is the case, please email the Website Administrator ecom_inquiry@lsuc.on.ca to make a request.
